![]() I dunno man, I don't watch South Park for the moral lesson or for them to preach at me. The only time "PC" affects my life in any way is when I see angry people bicker about it on the internet. To everywhere else though, it's just completely irrelevant. I'm glad it appeals specifically to your situation, but that's like LA, NYC, and a handful of other places. So this season and the previous seem to me like a bit of a big fuck you to advertisers and all the regular people out there perpetuating this PC nonsense-when really I think all Matt and Trey want is for the world to embrace the "it's either all okay or none of its okay" attitude. They've spoken in interviews before about how most of the censorship actually comes from advertisers. A protest even.like "this is what south park looks like on PC.is this what you really want?" That joke they made about how PC came around in 2004 or something and lasting about 6 years makes me think some of this is just because they're salty that they have to cater SO much to comedy Central because comedy Central wants to cater to advertisers. I also think the drawn out PCness is a response to us. I think they probably just wanted to tackle these issues in a new format, to give it more depth and to say "hey we really think this PC shit is a bunch of white guilt and marketing tactics, and it's got to stop or else.we'll kindly take two seasons to explain this" When we (and they) were younger they would use some wacky plot to present an issue and they'd wrap it up and teach us what we learned today by 23 minutes.īut they've been around now for 20 years, they're older, were older. Him saying "his grandma was a little black boy deal with it" sounds like your average affluent white college student.all the little details that they've captured in seasons 19 and now 20 are extremely entertaining to someone who lives in a city that is tearing down historic amoeba records for stupid hollywood condos.Īnd I think that this PC arc is actually leading into a bigger message about ads and lack of privacy and how powerful companies like Google and Facebook are going to get, and they sell your information to advertisers and it's super fucked, and most people-including adults-ive talked to, don't seem to be all that concerned with our digital identities merging with our physical identities. I personally love the new PC stuff, but I think that's because I'm from LA, and seriously everyone here acts like carman. Just read our announcement on politics found HERE.
